Hello,

Has anyone had much experience with the ICOM FR-3000 repeaters. From the literature I've read they seem to be a pretty good unit at a reasonable price. Would someone recommend this unit for a stand-alone repeater for a fire department?

The intended use will be for tactical communications of units prior to arrival at the fire scene. We are not intending to use the repeater as a fireground tactical channel.

For the price the ICOM seems like a really good deal. Would we be better off to spend more money for a different unit?

I use this in both UHF and VHF and they are great repeaters. Much better unit than the old R1225. I have had only one unit out for repair from our trunking system. They are very reasonable on GSA or state bid also.
