I have a VX-5500 UHF that had no power output, good RF into PA module, good volts on module, and nothing out of module. I installed a new module and now have .28 watt out. I run alignment of power to max and still have .28 watt out. Radio current is 5 amps on transmitt. What can I try or check now?

I had another VX-5500 UHF that had about one half power out. I retrurned it to Vertex and they replaced module and set everything to max, including modulation (not very smart). It came back with about 30 watts.

I just discovered that the circuit board is shorted at the output of the PA module. Anyone seem a short between the PA and the receiver input? Receive is good.

I called Vertex and the phone tech said XV-5500's do not give trouble. HA, HA, I guess I get all the bads ones. I found a shorted cap on the bottom of the board.
