Need Some Help With New Vertex 929

Hey guys, I just got a VX-929. I was just wondering if any of you knew what setting I should use for the mic gain as well as other settings for the best sound on TX. Also the best setting for squelch to recieve the best. When I say this I mean to recieve weak signals with no problem but not have the portable open up the squelch. Thanks a lot for any input/help!

Without a service monitor, it's trial and error. Usually the stock factory values are fine.
