Kenwood tk-760G -1
I believe the software to be KPG56D This true?
What needs to be done to enable front face self programming?
I do believe there needs to be a diode or a shunt either installed or removed.
Thanks,

My copy of KPG-56D lists the TK-760G, TK-762G, and TK-768G as model choices to program. So yes, that appears to be the correct software. Afraid I can't help on the front programming question.
I have had a bit of difficulty programming 760's. I have one that for some reason won't "take" about half the time. You just keep retrying until it works. I would suggest reading the radio first, then changing the programming as desired instead of just programming and writing.

I found the supplemental manual on line and thought I would cut and paste the info here for future reference by someone.
8-1. Enter to the Self Programming Mode
Remove D507 (Figure 3) from the TX-RX unit. Hold down
the [A] key and turn the power switch on. When enter the
self programming mode, "SELF" is displayed. The mode
changes autoically to Model Select Mode in about one second,
and set up radio type, radio band & channel type and
frequency version.
and then the most important part....
The silk screen of D505 and D507 is reversed on the TXRX
unit PCB (Part No. J72-0677-02). this silk screen will be
corrected from the next version, J72-0677-12.
