Hi all, does anyone know how to save a codeplug file to a seperate floppy? I am only able to save to the program floppy but would like to look at the file with a hex editor. When I "save " it goes to the programming floppy and the name I give it dosent appear on the program floppy and can not find it and think if it went to a blank floppy it would be no trouble. thank you and your help is appreciater. can you change the path so it saves to your hard drive? Below is a cut and paste from the KPG6D help files.
The SETUP COMPUTER CONFIGURATION section is for selecting the proper para-
meters so that the computer can "communicate with the radio", and to assign a
"place" where data files are to be stored and retrieved from .Note: This
should be done before programming a radio or saving a data file for the first
time.
RADIO PORT: Sets the COM LEVEL in this software to match the COM LEVEL of the
serial communications port being used to read & write to the radio via the
programming interface cable. This COM LEVEL (more formerly known as the
"serial port interrupt request level and I/O port base address".) will vary
from computer-to-computer as it depends on how it was setup. If you do not
know the COM LEVEL to set, a simple "trial & error" method of different set-
tings will suffice without causing harm to the computer, interface cable or
radio. (default: COM1)
DATA FILE DRIVE & PATH: Selects "where" the program data files are to be saved
and retrieved. The disk drive name and path(s) specification follow DOS rules:
drive name\main directory name\ sub-directory names. Notice that a default is
for drive "A" and appropriate directory names for this particular program.
F10: DEFAULT- Resets the drive & path to the default parameters.

[F5]: Prints a hardcopy of this screen

Didnt get your name but thank you very much, I can now "save" to disk on a seperate floppy and it has created a "Data" file for me to choose from in the software. I looked at the file with a Hex editor but being new to Hexing I wasent familier with the numbers like 50 14 4C 5D 8F etc...You were a great help and thanks again. Davie

thanks Peter, just trying to see if I can hex it if I wanted to. I'm used to doing 34 34 32 2E 31 3030 for 442.100 that type of stuff but the 805D numbers are not the same.

I'm not sure you need to. I have a VHF TK705D and it takes 2 meter freqs without any trouble at all.

I know I probably dont need to I just want to understand how. and its a UHF.

It is fun to tinker with radios and the Kenwoods are pretty hard to screw up, unlike the Motorolas.
