The Radio Information Board

I have a 5100 242-5117-660GS4 I power up the unit up and I get V4.4.4 . Now I do have a couple of versions of PCConfigure 01_24_00_00 , 02_01_00 , 02_06_09. Can I use any of these versions? Thanks.

4.4.4 requires PCC 1.28.0.8

Well we tried a few versions of PCConfigure 1.28.00.08, 1.28.00.03, 2.6.9, 2.10.01, all would read from the radio but would not write to the radio. A friend told me to use 2.1.0 and it worked just fine. He has a few of the same version radios and had the same problems and 2.1.0 was the only one that worked for him and he said that he knows others that only 2.1.0 worked for them. So if anyone with a 5100 series 4 (242-5117-660GS4) with firmware version 4.4.4 and you can not get 1.28.00.08 to work, Then try PCConfigure 2.1.0 it worked just fine for me.

The 'official' version for 4.4.4 firmware is PCC 1.28.0.8 but if someone programmed it using PCC 2.x then only 2.x can be used to read it out again as there was a file format chance from 1.x to 2.x. I wouldn't recommend using newer PCC on older firmware radios as you will eventually end up with some unintended consequences of the random sort since the memory mapping changes when they do file format changes. Therefore options change places and the 'bits and bytes' don't always line up correctly.

Thanks I.S. I was just passing on some findings with my 5100. But do I understand that I should not use 2.1.0? What would I need to do to use the Official PCConfigure version 1.28.00.08 ? or do I really need to worry about it? Thanks.
