VFO Problem with a pre-loved TS-680S

Hello
I have purchased a used Kenwood TS-680S HF/6 Mx transceiver.
I have a problem with the frequency control system. When using either VFO-A or VFO-B, the flourescent frequency display
malfunctions (all display annunciators turn on) and the VFO system goes completely "haywire."
I have studied the block diagram of the frequency control system and I cannot establish which components are responsible for VFO-A and VFO-B.
I need to identify the proper components, so I can rectify this problem, or could it be because of a crash of the CPU which
controls the whole thing?
Are there any TS-680S owners out there who have had problems like this, and have been successful in rectifying the above
problem?
Thank you and 73, de
