EFJ 51SL firmware v 2.4.6 -- upgradeable?

Hello,
I have an EFJ 51SL, model 242-5282-810-GC2, that shows v2.4.6 upon boot. That firmware version is pretty old, right? Can it be upgraded at all? If so, can the end-user (me) do it with a computer or must it be sent to a EFJ dealer or the factory?

. You can call EFJ and see if they will just give it to you since these radios are no longer supported. I doubt it though since like most companies (especially in this industry) are really revenue driven right now and every penny counts. But it is an 800 number so it won't cost you anything but time
