I am looking for a source of the power connectors for the newer style radios (53SL)
An alternative is used power cables for that type radio.
Just looking to avoid lopping off the OEM connectors.

I believe they are made by amp. At least the connector portion anyway.
Wish I knew their part number, that might be able to help you out a little bit.

I went over the connector again and found the abbreviation P.E.D. I had done a search before but may have used PED. This time I did find one site that sells Packard Weather Pack terminals.

The price for a housing and 2 pins was just over $3.00

The last order of connectors from EFJ were marked "DELPHI". Just found those at Waytek Wire and they seem to have a little better pricing than Texas Industrial but there is a minimum on some parts. I think it's around page 23 on the e-catalog. The housing can be found at

They are GM/Delphi/Packard (take your pick) Weatherpack connectors.
Pretty common in the engine compartments of 20+ year old GM cars, but not so common in the radio world.
You'll want:
-for a power cable:
--2 pin Female connector shell aka tower or turret + female pins for 12ga wire + blue seals
-to repair a broken radio pigtail:
--2 pin Male connector shell aka shroud + male pins for 12ga wire + blue seals
The green gasket comes with the female connector shell.
Some places sell them all together as a package, some separate.
Also available on ebay...
