Hello to all members of the group,
I am not asking for software here, As I have most of the PC stuff for EF Johnson, What I am asking, Has anyone worked with the Ascend 900 Mhz HT's. Model # 242-5597-562HA4, With a FCC ID of: ATH2425 191.
They are definitely 900 radios, I check with EF Johnson. My question is, Has anyone been able to program and use them in the 900 Mhz Ham Band portion?. If so, Please contact me @

Many Thanks, 73's Don W9DMW

I have purchased two of these radios as well. Looks like PCConfigure will not let you program TX above 900 or RX/TA below 935. This is likely going to require hex editing, but sadly I don't think it will be as straightforward as hex editing Motorola Astro Spectra CPS was to open those radios up to 136-174. Literally all you did with that hex edit was search and replace every instance of "14400000" with "13600000" and then it worked. Unfortunately I am not a programmer so I don't know how to figure this out on my own.

A lot of folks, including myself, have put many of these radio's onto the 900 ham band. They work VERY well. EFJ no longer officially supports these radio's, but the last firmware, PCC and OOB hack to enable OOB programming is located at the P25 Forum:
https://www.p25.ca/forum.php
Search around and you'll also find information concerning hex editing the option file of these radio's to enable/disable many features. I have enabled P25 conventional on three of these radio's thus far.

I've read a short blurb on modifying with a hex edit the PCConfig software to be able to enter some 902-928 channels but am wondering if anyone has modified the hardware in an 800MHz radio to function on 902?
