Mastr Exec II vehicular repeater question

Post by mike m »

I Have a VRS that uses the low power Mastr exec II Mobile radio.

The system ID is 82A01, It is VHF with a VRS part number of
PL19C851179-G1. I'm looking for the wiring info at the MASTR EXEC II
end, it has a 9 pin molex connector( 3 rows by 3 columns) and a 3 pin
molex with red and black wires. I'm looking for the info on
terminating these 2 connectors, I think it uses a convertacom to put
it in VRS mode when the Ht is removed but I'm not sure which
convertacom is used nor how it is wired.

I have the cabling and a RANGR talking to an S825, the S825 AUX
switch is set up to select VRS mode but I'm not sure if anything else
is needed at the S825 end going to the VRS box either.

The S825 dowloads and talks to the low band RANGR just fine so this
end is working fine and all I need is the info on what convertacom is
used with it or if I can possibly bypass the convertacom(which I
don't have) and switch it in another fashion such as a simple toggle
switch. I want to have it operating in VRS mode all the time as a
VHf high to 6 meter setup so I could bypass any S825 control and hard
wire it if anyone has any ideas on how to do this.

I would post this one on the Yahoo group "GE". Many sharp GE guys hang out on that one that aren't aware of this forum here.

Good luck...

Short the center two pins of the molex connector and it should fly.

Glen thanks,

I was about to try pulling them high thru a 10 K pullup but felt it better to see if I received some more replies.

Another ? Glen,

Do you know if this VRS will work with any control head, by this I mean does the ctrl head have to enable anything in the VRS and do I need a specific head to work with the VRS ?

I have a S825 head set to enable VRS by the AUX button on the 825 keypad but I have no other info on what else may be needed coming off of the S825.

I really want to just use my S990 head and control the VRS with a single toggle switch, for instance shorting the 2 center pins on the molex connector.
