what is this radio ?

Someone gave me 2 of these Uniden portables and was wondering if anyone knows what it is ?

My thinking it is a UHF IMTS phone ?

It single a channel with top controls - volume, squelch and light.

Back of the radio has model# APU-46.

Bottom of the radio has a sticker - APU-44k.

Inside the radio I see a diode matrix towards the bottom.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I remember seeing some of these at a hamfest several years ago. My best guess at that time was that they were diode programable UHF radios. The ones that I saw worked and when I keyed it up, it transmitted on 460.xxx or somewhere in that range. I didn't spend too much time with them, that was just my best guess at the time.
